Third Session of CINTAGAS Training Course Successfully Opens

The third training course of the China International Training Academy of Gastric Surgery (CINTAGAS) officially kicked off on the afternoon of November 3, 2025, at the conference hall on the 1st Floor, Building 2 of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital (The First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University & Jiangsu Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital).

The course gathers surgeons from Chile, Moldova, Ecuador, Nigeria, Kazakhstan and other countries, aiming to conduct academic exchanges and promote the latest progress and therapeutic technologies in gastric surgery through specialized training.

Professor Xu Zekuan, Director of the Gastric Cancer Center, noted that this marks the third successfully held training program of CINTAGAS. The international course is committed to sharing and exchanging cutting-edge standardized treatment technologies for gastric cancer, improving the diagnosis and treatment capacity of specialized physicians, and demonstrating the hospital’s active efforts in advancing international medical cooperation and cultivating global medical talents.

Du Lina, Director of the Hospital International Cooperation Office, reviewed the hospital’s fruitful practice in fostering international medical talents and promoting global medical cooperation and exchanges. She stated that the training course serves as an important academic exchange platform as well as a key measure for the hospital to expand international cooperation and elevate its global influence, helping participants enhance professional capabilities and better serve patients worldwide.

Zhang Qianze from Mindray Medical expressed the hope that the training would facilitate the integration and mutual learning of advanced medical technologies at home and abroad, accelerate the training of young surgeons, promote the popularization of sophisticated medical technologies across the globe, and deliver higher-quality medical services to local patients.
Professor Xu Hao, Director of the Department of Gastric Surgery, gave a detailed introduction to the Gastric Cancer Center, the Department of Gastric Surgery and the arrangement of the training curriculum. Afterwards, all international trainees introduced themselves one by one.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Xu Zekuan, Professor Xu Hao, Professor Yang Li, Deputy Director Zhao Lili and Mr. Zhang Qianze jointly presented certification plaques to the trainees.

The training lasts one and a half months, covering a comprehensive curriculum: experience sharing on radical gastrectomy, observation of outpatient services and MDT multidisciplinary clinics, hands-on training in standardized laparoscopic and robotic radical gastrectomy, ward rotation and difficult case discussions, study tours of the Endoscopy Center and Department of Pathology, as well as specialized training on gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
After the opening ceremony, the trainees proceeded directly to the operating rooms for on-site observation, starting their intensive and rewarding study journey.
Going forward, Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital will continue to implement the Open Hospital Strategy, further boost international medical cooperation and exchanges, enhance its global reputation, and contribute to the development of global healthcare.
